“Movement Green”
I guess it all started with Al Gore?
The big wave of the need to “go green”.
Am I criticizing? No. Think it’s hideous? No. Scoffing at the idea? Certainly NOT.
I think its a real shame that it took all these years of wasteful living and abuse by the world and our system to get our environment into the situation that we are now in. And then a man comes along with a documentary, a world wide tour, and a book, to get corporate America, people, and politicians to start changing the way we think and the way we live.
My question is why now? Why are people starting to listen now? Why are politicians acting now?
Headlines on any TV news channel, running across the internet, and talking continuously in blogs, and among our normal everyday discussions, highlight the wide scope of weather driven disasters across the world.
Never in history has our world witnessed such dramatic and destructive extremes of droughts, floods, earthquakes, and wildfires.
Did Al Gore’s movement finally cause our government to start talking about finding solutions and start finding ways to clean up the aftermath?
Meteorologists try desperately with all their advanced technological equipment to predict the weather. They are only able to rely on scientific observations and past weather patterns, but accurately predict the weather? Not on your life.
Don’t get me wrong, I am for recycling, saving energy and doing whatever it takes to sustain a cleaner environment. And its a real shame that we as a people have let this problem get so far out of control. It seems to me through all this talk of a greener planet and living green, it has developed into yet another basis of profit for BIG business. I admit, I have done what I think is the right thing by researching my own company operations, making sure our servers are running on energy saving equipment and using the best possible means of “green power”. But is it just another idea to run wild across the globe? Another movement?
Who knows, but the truth is, this is not the first attempt by mankind to alter our way of living and to stop abusing the environment. If my memory serves me, I recall a great speech given by a great leader at one time in history, from the speech of Chief Seattle.
How is it that our forefathers did not listen then?
Or why is it when Leon Shenandoah of the Iroquios Six Nations gave the speech in 1993 for the “Cry of the Earth”.
No one listened then!
Or when any of the great warriors, Holy Men or Chiefs of long ago tried to tell their ancestors what was happening, did they listen? I think not….
They didn’t listen then and we don’t listen now, something as true and pure as the talk of the Indian Nations could not pierce the hearts of man and neither did something more powerful than that as the Word of God.
Matthew 5:45 Jesus tells us that it is God Himself in charge of the weather. Or in Job 37, the entire Book tells clearly whose hand is in charge. And yes, the Bible also reveals that God set spiritual and physical laws in motion to allow humans the ability to develop their own ways of living - contrary to God’s laws, but we also reap the natural consequences that result from these ways, and that includes the weather.
But since man is so sophisticated in his thinking to except that the Word of God reveals the answers, that there is a spiritual dimension answer to the question; What is the true cause of our crisis? It will continue, the disasters will continue to come until the moral and spiritual condition of this world turns their eyes to God and obeys His laws.
We should take into consideration the worsening of our environment and the weather as a warning from God.
