Ramblings - Bardstown Kentucky

Posted by deborah on Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

My entire life I have always been drawn to old things; old people, old objects, old stories, old cemeteries, and old towns. So it was no surprise when I landed in a small quaint historic town called Bardstown Kentucky I felt right at home.

This morning I was doing a little reflecting backwards thinking about this nice quite town and how simple life appeared to be there. I visited Bardstown in 2005 and its a place I will always keep in my memory. Definitely a place to visit again and if you happen to pass through be sure and make the first thing on your list the horse drawn carriage ride.

A soothing, relaxing, and very informative tour of the history of Bardstown from the back seat of a carriage. The tour takes you back through the years into Bardstowns past.

My next stop was of course “Old Talbott Tavern” where I found the best “Fried Green Tomatoes” I have ever had. A place with a long list of old famous visitors from times past. On the list was a very distant relative of mine, none other than Daniel Boone! He must have impressed them as well, as they named one of the rooms in the Inn after him!
