Sunday Morning - September 9th

Posted by deborah on Sunday, September 9th, 2007

Isn’t it funny how the days seem to just fly by when you get older. The truth is, it doesn’t, time goes by at the same speed as it always has. There is no difference from age 5 to 51.

This morning started off in the usual way with two cups of coffee and reading the overnight emails; and then a call came from some very close friends to join them for breakfast at the nearby country kitchen. That sounds like a great idea and it will give me a little break from the computer.

They have a beautiful cabin in the hills of Georgia where they spend the summer and are surrounded by wonderful people that I have had the privilege of meeting. Two ladies in particular have the most wonderful garden. They can the food they grow and they sent a few jars of their canned goods, by way of the friends I met for breakfast this morning, for us to enjoy.

Bread & Butter pickles, sweet pickles, pickled beets, and some new sauerkraut!

Awh, how wonderful to have the space and the talent to grow things on your own land and then to be able to can it for later. A blessing for sure.
After the delightful breakfast and time well spent with friends its time to catch up on a few chores and tasks that need to be done before the 4:00 game begins. Its the start of the Pro football season for the Tampa Bay Bucs. I do love to watch football.

As I was sitting here contemplating what to write about, I realized that today would have been my fathers 74th birthday. I still miss him very much everyday, he was 42 when he passed away just a few days after his birthday. He died of Leukemia. My father was the finest man I have ever known and when you hear the word Christian man, he set the mark. A true Christian man indeed!

My Sunday mornings are about giving thanks. I thank God for giving me wonderful friends and for their thoughtfulness, but most of all I thank God for giving me two of the finest parents anyone could ever have been given in this life.

A Grace filled life for sure!!!
