Tampa Bay’s 3 Day Breast Cancer Walk Comes to an End

Posted by deborah on Monday, October 22nd, 2007

If you have ever walked 60 miles in 3 days you know that blisters become your feet. With the purpose of a cure for Breast Cancer in mind, over 1900 women and men raised 5.4 million dollars to do just that. The Tampa Bay 3 Day Breast Cancer Walk went off this weekend with a vengeance.

Friday was filled with rain, humidity, and a blazing heat index of over 100 degrees. The result was swollen knees, painfully sore feet with blisters, and sore hip joints.

Did they stop???
Not on your life. The walkers kept going, the crew members and supporters kept going, all doing their part to help make this another successful event.

Congrats to all and especially the team that I am so proud to be a part of, “Thanks For The Mammories”, and for the mens team “The SOB’S” (see the pink hard hats) you were great!
As the end approached Sunday evening, there was not a dry eye to be found. Waterfalls of emotions and mountains of love were shown to all the new found friends that were made during the Tampa Bay 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk. As many embraced at the end a bond now connects them to each other as they all strive to work for a cure for breast cancer. A cure in OUR lifetime, that will drive us through next year’s event!
