Tampa Bay 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk is here!

Posted by deborah on Monday, October 15th, 2007

It’s our turn!
Its time for all those who have registered and raised their money to walk in the Tampa Bay Breast Cancer 3-Day 60 mile walk. They are ready with pink hats, pink shirts, pink shorts, pink ribbons, pink banners, and pink shoes, and its time for Tampa Bay to take their turn! Hundreds of volunteers are getting ready to make the Tampa Bay 3-Day a very safe and very successful event. I am part of a group that has been established for three years now, even though my contribution has been that of a supporter. But next year, I have committed to shine up my tennis shoes, load up on Tylenol and get walkin….

Eighty-five percent of the net proceeds from the Breast Cancer 3-Day benefits Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the world’s largest and most progressive grassroots network fighting to end breast cancer. Fifteen percent of the net proceeds from the Breast Cancer 3-Day benefit the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund, a special field of interest fund that will provide support for breast cancer initiatives including research, treatment, prevention and education. The NPT Breast Cancer Fund is an endowment, which will ensure that the cause receives long-term, continuing support irrespective of gifting activities in years to come.

If you have not been a part of this huge event, you must at least get out there and cheer the walkers on. Its such an emotional and moving experience and one you will not forget. The awareness that this cause has brought is beyond measure and growing more and more everyday.

Hats off to all that are involved!

I will be right there this weekend with the group doing my part to help make those walkers as comfortable as possible. The teams I support are “Thanks for the Mammories” and “SOB’s”(Sons Brothers and Others). A great group of gals and guys that are going the distance this weekend.
