I still shake my head in disbelief that my dear friend is gone. We are slowly approaching her one-year anniversary of death. July 6th will be the day. My goodness, how I miss Laurie. I think of her often and there have been times I have picked up my phone to call her only to remember, she is not there to answer.
I have failed to keep my promise to her about keeping this site going and writing to the world the things we talked about and shared. But I don’t think it is too late.
I thought long and hard about what I could do to motivate myself to visit here again. I think I heard her whisper to me that she left me with so many articles and poems to publish, and her permission to do so, so get with it.
So I am going to attempt once more to do just that.
Many of you may know about her books, most of them were memoirs. Years ago I asked her about her book When I Came West. What prompted her to write it, what did each section mean, what did she leave out of the book, and so forth. So she answered me. She wrote almost 34 pages of her thoughts and details about the book and sent it to me to do as I wished. I think it might be a great way to launch Sunday Morning Blogger into active mode again and share with those out there that knew her and if not, you will know something about her as I publish these letters.
I will publish these under her name on her page for anyone to enjoy.
