Essays, stories, lists, and things worth remembering.
I’ve always liked the idea of Sunday mornings. Not necessarily because anything remarkable happens on a Sunday, but because the day seems to invite a different sort of attention. A little more time with a cup of coffee, a book left open on the table, or a thought that has been waiting all week to find its way onto paper.
Sunday Morning Blogger grew out of that feeling.
Over the years, this little corner of the internet has taken on different forms, but the pleasure of writing has always been at its center. I’ve never been particularly interested in writing about only one subject. Life offers far too many interesting things for that.
Here you’ll find essays, short stories, personal observations, and occasional wanderings into history, nature, books, and the peculiar little things that catch my attention. Some pieces are drawn from memory, others from curiosity, and a few simply begin with a question I can’t resist following.
There’s also a place for lists. I’ve always enjoyed the pleasure of gathering things together on a page. Things worth remembering, things nearly forgotten, favorite books, curious facts, old traditions, small pleasures, and whatever else seems deserving of a list. Some are thoughtful, some practical, and others are simply for the enjoyment of making them.
Photography has long been part of my life, and it will continue to have a place here. Sometimes a photograph tells its own story. Other times it brings back a memory or sends me looking for one.
I don’t expect everything published here to fit neatly into a particular category. A story might be amusing, an essay might turn serious, and a list might lead somewhere entirely unexpected. That’s part of the enjoyment of writing without too many rules.
A Friendship Worth Remembering
Sunday Morning Blogger also holds a very special place in my heart because of my dear friend, Laurie Wagner Buyer.
Laurie was part of an earlier chapter of this website, and her friendship, encouragement, and creative spirit helped shape what it became. We shared a love of writing and the pleasure of exchanging ideas, stories, and the little observations that often become the beginnings of something worth putting into words.
Laurie has since passed away, but I wanted her name to remain part of this website. Some friendships continue to influence our lives long after the conversations have ended, and hers is one I will always remember with affection and gratitude.
What You’ll Find Here
Most of the writing on Sunday Morning Blogger is freely available to read and enjoy. From time to time, I’ll also offer longer stories and essays as individual downloadable publications. You may find the opening paragraphs here, with an invitation to purchase the complete piece if it interests you.
There’s no particular reading order and no requirement to begin at the beginning. You’re welcome to browse, follow an interesting title, linger over a photograph, or read a list that catches your eye.
I don’t know exactly what Sunday Morning Blogger will become in the years ahead, and I rather like leaving that question open.
For now, it’s a place to write about the things that interest me, share a few stories, make a few lists, and remember some of the things that deserve remembering.
